{"id":751153,"date":"2022-01-15T14:17:55","date_gmt":"2022-01-15T14:17:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/15\/player-stops-training-midway-due-to-heart-problem\/"},"modified":"2022-01-15T14:17:55","modified_gmt":"2022-01-15T14:17:55","slug":"player-stops-training-midway-due-to-heart-problem","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/15\/player-stops-training-midway-due-to-heart-problem\/","title":{"rendered":"Player Stops Training Midway&#8230;Due To Heart Problem"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Alphonso Davies<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies has stopped training after the club detected signs of heart muscle inflammation.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian, 21, has not played since December 17 after contracting COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann said a mild sign of myocarditis was discovered after Davies returned to training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDuring our follow-up examination that we do with every player that has had COVID-19, we detected signs of mild myocarditis,\u201d said Nagelsmann.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe has stopped training for now, so he won\u2019t be available to us for the next weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart muscle which can reduce the heart\u2019s ability to pump blood and can cause rapid or irregular heart rhythms.<\/p>\n<p>Davies has made 107 appearances for Bayern since signing from Vancouver Whitecaps in 2018, helping them win three Bundesliga titles and the Champions League in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis myocarditis isn\u2019t too dramatic based on the ultrasound, but more simply signs of an inflammation.
