{"id":749995,"date":"2022-01-14T16:39:54","date_gmt":"2022-01-14T16:39:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/14\/dr-zanetor-rawlings-showers-the-aged-in-her-constituency-with-gifts\/"},"modified":"2022-01-14T16:39:54","modified_gmt":"2022-01-14T16:39:54","slug":"dr-zanetor-rawlings-showers-the-aged-in-her-constituency-with-gifts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/14\/dr-zanetor-rawlings-showers-the-aged-in-her-constituency-with-gifts\/","title":{"rendered":"Dr Zanetor Rawlings showers the aged in her constituency with gifts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"591\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-2.36.11-PM-696x591.jpeg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Dr Zanetor Rawlings celebrates aged in her constituency\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Zanetor Rawlings celebrates aged in her constituency <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>It was a moment of inspiration, fun and merrymaking when Member of Parliament (MP) for the Klottey Korle constituency, Dr\u00a0Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings\u00a0met with some aged people in her constituency.<\/p>\n<p>Over 500 aged constituents consisting of both males and females from Tudu, Okaikoi, North Adabraka, Asylum Down and its environs were treated to various forms of donations. <\/p>\n<p>The wide smiles on their faces could not be compared to the dance moves they displayed in appreciation of the food items they received from their MP.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large td-caption-align-https:\/\/www.adomonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-2.36.10-PM-1.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"573\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-2.36.10-PM-1-1024x573.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2067393\"  \/><\/figure>\n<p>Despite the weary bodies and weak legs, the Osu Palace premise was at the mercy of the beneficiaries who challenged Dr Zanetor to a dance session. <\/p>\n<p>As the rhythm of the party\u2019s anthem and old-fashioned songs dominated the airwaves, the oldies rushed to the dancefloor to depict how they used to boogie during their youthful days. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"ob00lWafECk\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Boogie time at DR Zanetor Rawlings&#039; Time with the Aged\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ob00lWafECk?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>Impressed by their dance moves, an obviously excited Dr Zanetor thanked the aged, whom she described as her \u201cextra parents\u2019 following the demise of her father, for giving her a warm reception.<\/p>\n<p>She eulogized them for their pivotal role in uplifting her image and that of the National Democratic Congress as a party, for which she pledged to be of more help.<\/p>\n<p>This was after she had gifted them food items to ensure they continued the merrymaking even after the yuletide.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"711\" height=\"604\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-2.36.11-PM.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2067390\"  \/><\/figure>\n<p>At the annual MP\u2019s Time with the Aged ceremony hosted at the forecourt of the Osu Palace, Friday, January 14, she explained that the donation is not geared towards scoring political points.<\/p>\n<p>Rather, the MP said it is in fulfillment of a pledge she made to her late father, Jerry John Rawlings, to not forsake the vulnerable but reward them with everything deserving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile going on a tour in my constituency, I was given a very warm reception. They made me feel like family. I remembered my father\u2019s advice to always remember the aged and treat them with great respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"996\" height=\"610\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-2.36.10-PM-2.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2067392\"  \/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is not because of politics but it is what is right. The commandment reminds us to honour our parents so this gathering is to honour them and ease their burdens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The COVID-19 pandemic has posed a great financial difficulty to the aged and this, Dr Zanetor said she cannot solve, but her donation to them is a gesture of her thoughtfulness, adding that  \u201cI wish I could do more because you are the pillars of the community\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Despite constituting a meager minority of voters per the latest statistics, Dr Zanetor noted that the aged hold the key to re-instilling dignity to politics.<\/p>\n<p>She, therefore, admonished them to teach the history of the country and remind their descendants of the beauty of politics practiced in their youthful days. <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large td-caption-align-https:\/\/www.adomonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-2.36.10-PM.jpeg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"570\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2022-01-14-at-2.36.10-PM-1024x570.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2067394\"  \/><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cIt pains me that politics has made respect for the aged diminish. You are our pillars, some of you were around during Nkrumah\u2019s reign; you hold the history. Teach the history of the country and the party. Teach the youth so they do not take peace and stability for granted.
