The authorised Manager of a Popular radio station in the Western Region of Ghana called Good News radio has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service. The embattled Manager was reportedly Handcuffed together with one other staff member and put in cells at the Central police station in Takoradi.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the press, the Western Regional boss for the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation Mr Alfred Hughes confirmed the arrest with an interesting explanation. According to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation boss, they went out to monitor some radio stations that were Secretly Broadcasting the African Cup of Nations league without authorisation.<\/p>\n
Goods News radio happened to be one of the 14 radio stations that fell as culprits. With the help of the Ghana Police Service, they went out to investigate circumstances leading to the broadcast without authorisation.<\/p>\n
All the workers of Good News radio reportedly refused to give audience to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation task force and the Police. The manager of the station reportedly appeared and arrogantly ordered the Police to leave his premises.<\/p>\n
Not even the show of identification and warrant stopped the manager from inciting his workers against the GBC guest. He reportedly told the Police men that they look like armed robbers. This is because armed robbers carry guns like they have done.<\/p>\n
The Police then used force to handcuff him and one other who kept abusing their rights. They were driven to the Central police station and thrown into cells pending further investigations and subsequent prosecution.<\/p>\n
Ghana Broadcasting Corporation reserves the rights to televise or broadcast the ongoing AFCON. Any other station that does so falls victim to copyright laws.<\/p>\n
