{"id":744842,"date":"2022-01-11T14:58:02","date_gmt":"2022-01-11T14:58:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/11\/sad-news-27-years-old-football-star-dies-in-a-tragic-car-accident\/"},"modified":"2022-01-11T14:58:02","modified_gmt":"2022-01-11T14:58:02","slug":"sad-news-27-years-old-football-star-dies-in-a-tragic-car-accident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/11\/sad-news-27-years-old-football-star-dies-in-a-tragic-car-accident\/","title":{"rendered":"SAD NEWS: 27 years old Football Star Dies in a tragic Car Accident."},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p>Ahmet Calik, who was playing for Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor and spent three years with Galatasaray, was killed in a tragic car accident on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, Calik was on a day off from training and was heading to Ankara to finalise plans for his wedding, which he was due to hold in February next month.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/51a3217980cc4441b19b72055e92b797\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The Turkish FA said in a statement which confirmed the tragic news on social media.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is with deep sadness that we learned that Ahmet Calik, football player of Ittifak Holding Konyaspor, who also played in our national team, passed away as a result of a traffic accident. May Allah have mercy on the deceased&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>His club Ittifak Konyaspor payed their tribute on social media.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are in deep sorrow to have lost our player Ahmet Calik who earned our fans&#8217; and city&#8217;s love since the first day he arrived at Konyaspor,&#8221; the club posted on Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of our former football player Ahmet \u00c7al\u0131k. May God have mercy on the deceased, we express our condolences to his grieving family, loved ones and Turkish sports community&#8221;. His former side Galatasary posted via Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/6993e44fa31047efb8bc326be6eac3bf\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0An investigation has been instigated to establish the cause of the accident by the Turkish Authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Ahmet Calik, who started his career with local club Genclerbirligi from 2011 to 2017, made more than 50 appearances for Galatasaray during his three-year spell before joining Konyaspor in 2020, where he made 51 appearances.<\/p>\n<p>The former centre-back made eight senior caps for the Turkish national between 2015 and 2017 after progressing through the youth teams.
