Anti-corruption crusader, Manaseh Awuni Azure has intimated that the fortunes and direction of Ghana would change positively if only the country could get a committed and hard working leader like the current IGP, Dr George Akuffo Dampare occupying the highest office of the land as president.<\/p>\n

Sharing his views on the Key Point current affairs program on TV3 on Saturday, 8 January, 2022, the multiple award winning investigative journalist opined that the root cause of Ghana’s lack of progress is leadership.<\/p>\n

He argued that the notion that the problem of Ghana is not only leadership but the attitude of the people has been defeated by the appointment of Dr Dampare as the Inspector General of Police and what he been able to achieve so far with the police service.<\/p>\n

To Mr Azure, Dr Dampare’s sterling performance inspires hope and confidence that Ghana could become a better place one day with the right people in power.<\/p>\n

“Dampare’s appointment is one of the best things that happened to us as a country. Dampare’s appointment and what he demonstrated so far goes to show that if you are elected to the Jubilee House and you’re not able to effect change, then your character and competence needs to be questioned by the people you are leading”.<\/p>\n

“In my life time, I didn’t think that I will ever want to mention the Ghana Police Service and the next thing I will think about is integrity, respect and all the good accolades. Now you hear of the police service and your heart gets lighter than we have in the past. Parliamentarians who are misbehaving with their V8s have not been spared. And even the police personnel wherever across the country, they do not misbehave and get away with it these days”.<\/p>\n

“After Nkrumah, we have really not gotten a leader. As we sit here, as a country, we don’t have a leader. We have a president but we don’t have leader.<\/p>\n

“So if we ever get a leader like Dampare occupying the Jubilee House, I think we should be able to go far”.<\/p>\n
