{"id":739856,"date":"2022-01-07T22:55:19","date_gmt":"2022-01-07T22:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/07\/former-greater-accra-regional-minister-ishmael-ashitey-reported-dead\/"},"modified":"2022-01-07T22:55:19","modified_gmt":"2022-01-07T22:55:19","slug":"former-greater-accra-regional-minister-ishmael-ashitey-reported-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/07\/former-greater-accra-regional-minister-ishmael-ashitey-reported-dead\/","title":{"rendered":"Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey reported dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"928\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Ishmael-Ashitey-NPP-696x928.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Ishmael Ashitey NPP\"\/><\/div>\n<p>A former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Ishmael Ashitey, has been reported dead.<\/p>\n<p>Reports indicate he died on Friday, January 7, 2022, after a short illness at the Tema General Hospital.<\/p>\n<p>He was 68 years old.<\/p>\n<p>His death, according to sources, comes about a week after he returned from the United States where he was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>The deceased was also a former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).<\/p>\n<p>He was a Mechanical Engineer by profession and worked with prestigious companies including Tema Steel Works, Accra Brewery Limited in Ghana, Tecnofin Nederlands and General Establishment for Plastics &amp; Industries all in Libya.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ashitey joined the NPP in 1992.
