{"id":736368,"date":"2022-01-05T16:28:14","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T16:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/05\/expenditure-on-education-increased-by-95-under-my-administration\/"},"modified":"2022-01-05T16:28:14","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T16:28:14","slug":"expenditure-on-education-increased-by-95-under-my-administration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/05\/expenditure-on-education-increased-by-95-under-my-administration\/","title":{"rendered":"Expenditure on education increased by 95% under my administration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/92664343.295.jpg\" alt=\"President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo\" title=\"President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo\" width=\"295\" height=\"224\" \/> <span class=\"image_caption\"><span>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"-webkit-user-select: none; -webkit-touch-callout: none; -moz-user-select: none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none;\">\n<p style=\"clear:right\" id=\"article-123\"><b>Expenditure was four hundred million cedis (GH\u00a240.4 billion) between 2017 and 2020 &#8211; Akufo-Addo<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Akufo-Addo praises teachers for their work done<\/p>\n<p>Free Senior High School improved education in Ghana<\/p>\n<p>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has disclosed that, in the past five years, expenditure on education under his watch increased by 95 percent.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the increase demonstrates his government\u2019s commitment to education.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking at the 6th Quadrennial National Delegates Conference of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo great has this government\u2019s commitment to education been that public expenditure on education has almost doubled from twenty billion, seven hundred million cedis (GH\u00a220.7 billion) between 2013 and 2016, that is in the Mahama era, to forty billion, four hundred million cedis (GH\u00a240.4 billion) between 2017 and 2020, that is in the Akufo-Addo era, representing an increase of some ninety five percent (95%).\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The President, however thanked all teachers in the country for the work they did, and continue to do, in ensuring that the education of Ghanaian children, throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, has not been affected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cContinuous assessment, the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have all been written by thousands and thousands of students, under your care and guidance, in conditions of safety and orderliness, and without incident. The nation is extremely appreciative of these acts of selflessness and patriotism,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>According to President Akufo-Addo, his vision of a modern, competitive, Ghanaian economy, spearheaded by indigenous entrepreneurs, with productive employment for the great majority of its citizens, requires skilled economic actors, and to get there, the nation needs an educated workforce.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough the implementation of the Free Senior High School policy, we are ensuring that value is being added to the intellect of every Ghanaian child.
