{"id":736153,"date":"2022-01-05T14:06:20","date_gmt":"2022-01-05T14:06:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/05\/government-extorting-from-travellers-at-kia-okudzeto-ablakwa\/"},"modified":"2022-01-05T14:06:20","modified_gmt":"2022-01-05T14:06:20","slug":"government-extorting-from-travellers-at-kia-okudzeto-ablakwa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/01\/05\/government-extorting-from-travellers-at-kia-okudzeto-ablakwa\/","title":{"rendered":"Government extorting from travellers at KIA \u2013 Okudzeto Ablakwa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div style=\"-webkit-user-select: none; -webkit-touch-callout: none; -moz-user-select: none; -ms-user-select: none; user-select: none;\">\n<p style=\"clear:right\" id=\"article-123\"><b> ECOWAS nationals pay $50 and non-ECOWAS nationals $150<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Cost of COVID-19 testing has reduced worldwide \u2013 Ablakwa <\/p>\n<p>Current cost of Cost COVID-19 testing \u2013 MP <\/p>\n<p>North Tongue MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has accused the government of extorting monies from travellers entering Ghana through COVID-19 testing at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the current cost being charged by Frontline Healthcare Service Limited for the test amounted to extortion because the price of the test has drastically reduced globally.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne of the cardinal expectations I have for 2022, which is a view shared by many, is that the extortion going on at the Kotoka International Airport by Frontline Healthcare Services Limited, which is fully supported by the Akufo-Addo administration, that extortion must stop.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCharging $50 for ECOWAS nationals and $150 for non-ECOWAS nationals for one antigen test, not a PCR test must stop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll over the world, we are witnessing a drastic decline in the cost of these tests\u201d, but \u201cGhana has been at this for almost two years,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Member of Parliament (MP) further stated that the government had to put in measures to ensure that the \u2018exorbitant extortions\u2019 stopped.<\/p>\n<p>He hinted that if the current charges were not reduced by February 2022, parliament would take action.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is our expectation that latest by February, we should see a drastic review.
