{"id":1272085,"date":"2022-12-31T12:15:51","date_gmt":"2022-12-31T12:15:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/31\/a-binding-national-vision-plan-is-needed-to-develop-ghana-dr-yaw-perbi\/"},"modified":"2022-12-31T12:15:51","modified_gmt":"2022-12-31T12:15:51","slug":"a-binding-national-vision-plan-is-needed-to-develop-ghana-dr-yaw-perbi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/31\/a-binding-national-vision-plan-is-needed-to-develop-ghana-dr-yaw-perbi\/","title":{"rendered":"A binding &#8216;national vision plan&#8217; is needed to develop Ghana &#8211; Dr Yaw Perbi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Dr-Yaw-Perbi1.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>Global CEO of the HuD Group, Dr Yaw Perbi has reiterated the need for Ghana to adopt a comprehensive and binding national plan to accelerate development.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, such a template will reap more dividends for the country than the evolving manifestoes of political parties.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on third edition of the \u2018<strong>Joy-Change Speakers Series<\/strong>\u2018 on Newsfile, he explained that over the years, the country has been run aground due to the absence of a policy programme which transcends political parties.<\/p>\n<p>He however noted that if such a plan is adopted, it will deal with the discontinuity in projects and programmes resulting from change in regimes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[The duopoly of NDC and NPP] has resulted in the interruption of policy direction and programme implementation; setting back Ghana\u2019s economic transformation\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Dr Perbi continued, \u201cThe underlying cause is the absence of an agreed-upon national long-term (development plan) with clear and measurable targets; KPI\u2019s aligned with medium tern plans of the government in power\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>For him, \u201cIf we have this as a plan, every political party then does their manifesto according to that plan. [They] tell us how they\u2019re going to implement what we have already decided we want as a people\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>His suggestions on the need for a binding national vision plan was part of his six suggestions on how to move the country forward.<\/p>\n<p>Touching on other areas, he stressed on the need for a review of the constitution; adding that government must also work to curb the perennial deficits in budgetary allocations.<\/p>\n<p>This he said will help strengthen the country\u2019s economic variables.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana is currently reeling under economic pressure, characterised by a soaring inflation and a fluctuation of the local currency against other major trading currencies; especially the US dollar.<\/p>\n<p>This has consequently resulted in excruciating levels of hardship reported amongst some section of the populace.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, government has assured that it is working assiduously to stem the tide.<\/p>\n<p>In his Christmas Message to Ghanaians, President Akufo-Addo indicated that the country\u2019s economic woes will soon be a thing of the past.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISCLAIMER: <\/strong>The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Global CEO of the HuD Group, Dr Yaw Perbi has reiterated the need for Ghana to adopt a comprehensive and binding national plan to accelerate development.
