{"id":1271810,"date":"2022-12-30T20:58:44","date_gmt":"2022-12-30T20:58:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/30\/p-square-apologises-to-fans-for-break-up-at-afro-nation-concert-in-accra\/"},"modified":"2022-12-30T20:58:44","modified_gmt":"2022-12-30T20:58:44","slug":"p-square-apologises-to-fans-for-break-up-at-afro-nation-concert-in-accra","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/30\/p-square-apologises-to-fans-for-break-up-at-afro-nation-concert-in-accra\/","title":{"rendered":"P-Square apologises to fans for break up at Afro Nation concert in Accra"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/P-Square.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>Nigerian music duo P-Square, also known as Peter and Paul have apologised to their fans for denying them of good music for years because of their break up.<\/p>\n<p>The musical twins rendered this apology during their performance at the 2022 Afro Nation musical concert at the Blackstar Square in Accra on Friday dawn.<\/p>\n<p>The duo knelt down and unexpectedly apologised after performing their third song.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe apologise for denying you good music for five years because of our break up,\u201c the duo stated in unison.<\/p>\n<p> fans were excited in July 2022 when\u00a0the Afrobeats legendary duo, Peter &#038; Paul Okoye popularly known as P-Square released the teaser for their much anticipated new single titled \u201cJaiye\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"XjwXJK2fWNQ\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Psquare Publicly Apologizes To Fans For Splitting Up, Performs Ifunanya | WATCH\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/XjwXJK2fWNQ?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The music duo broke up five years ago (2017) and decided to go solo with their careers over issues many described as \u2018irreconcilable.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The 40-year-old brothers started their musical career in 1999, and dominated the African music industry for over a decade until they fell out.<\/p>\n<p>As\u00a0separate artistes, independent of each other, Peter adopted the moniker \u2018Mr P\u2019 while Paul became known as \u2018Rudeboy.\u2019 Not only did the separation affect their careers, but it also affected their personal lives.<\/p>\n<p>Fans kept anticipating their reconciliation and held on to a line in one of their hits, \u2018\u2019Busy body\u2019 which went like, \u2018\u2018Peter and Paul them be one no be two\u2019\u2019 but all hopes were dashed when on August 17, 2020, Peter tweeted that fans should stop anticipating a reconciliation.<\/p>\n<p>Peter, who is the most outspoken of the Okoye brothers, had inferred that their older brother and ex-manager, Jude, was behind the irreconcilable spat between himself and his twin brother.<\/p>\n<p>He also explained that the whole drama began after Paul began posting the lyrics of most of their songs on Instagram and claimed to be the writer. He also accused Paul of being weak and not standing up to their older brother.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Aftermath of reconciliation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Their newly found \u2018bromance\u2019 did not stop at the mere following of each other on Instagram, Peter also took Paul\u2019s children on a shopping spree in Texas, U.S., where they currently live, ahead of Christmas.<\/p>\n<p>Paul\u2019s kids had the fun of their lives as their uncle got the beautiful toys, clothes, and jewellery. Their mum was heard in the background saying they need not do Christmas shopping anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Also, to celebrate the return of P-Square, Paul, through his\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Twitter<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0handle, has called on their fans to prove that two are better than one; it reads:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStarting from Obi Cubana and Jude Okoye, even Davido, let\u2019s show Davido that two heads are better than one. Everything na double double.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Before they parted ways, they produced and released their albums through Square Records.
