The festival was a perfect blend of culture, arts, and creativity accompanied with brass band music. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/a5cb839c9ad74e5384cfdc614c29a781\"\/><\/p>\n<p>In this year&#8217;s edition, revelers were entertained by the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko Mensah who joined the masqueraders to display his dancing skills. Every group&#8217;s costume is different from the others, aside from all being made from bright-colored fabrics. There are over a dozen different groups with each having hundreds of members. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/3a75ed405e0847a1a236f484d1e93939\"\/><\/p>\n<p>The festival is celebrated to honor John Kenu (John Conny) who defeated the Dutch who had taken over Ahanta lands and sold them into slavery. The festival has been celebrated since 1709. <\/p>\n<p>If you missed the Christmas edition, you sure would not like to miss the new year&#8217;s edition which comes off on 1st January 2023.
