{"id":1268770,"date":"2022-12-22T05:43:38","date_gmt":"2022-12-22T05:43:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/22\/kojo-antwi-hints-at-name-change-a-whole-lot-coming\/"},"modified":"2022-12-22T05:43:38","modified_gmt":"2022-12-22T05:43:38","slug":"kojo-antwi-hints-at-name-change-a-whole-lot-coming","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/22\/kojo-antwi-hints-at-name-change-a-whole-lot-coming\/","title":{"rendered":"Kojo Antwi hints at name change &#038; &#8216;a whole lot coming&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/KOJO-ANTWI-JOY-PRIME-1024x594.png\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>Legendary musician Kojo Antwi, also known as \u201cMr.  Man,\u201d has revealed that plans are underway to change his name as part of re-branding.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Roselyn Felli on <strong><em>Prime Morning<\/em><\/strong> Wednesday, the legendary musician indicated that his name, \u201cKojo Antwi,\u201d might be changed next year (2023) for reasons he prefers to keep close to his chest in the meantime.<\/p>\n<p>Having been in the music industry for decades, he believes there is more to be done to improve his music career, hence the need to re-brand and give more of himself for music lovers.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"6lj6beMHFBs\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Kojo Antwi set to announce new name\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/6lj6beMHFBs?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cNext year we will be pursuing something else. There is a change of name coming,\u201d he revealed.<\/p>\n<p>Even though he might change the name, he said, \u201cI can always go back and tap into it, but I still believe there\u2019s a lot that I have that is not out there. So the book has other things that come to it. There\u2019s a whole lot coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr.  Man, as he is known, also said on the show that people misjudge his genre of music, stating that he is not a highlife musician as people think. \u201cMy music is called Afro Pop, African Popular ,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Considering the fact that highlife elements are found in his songs, he asserted that he does all genres because he was blessed with a voice to sing all kinds of music.<\/p>\n<p>He thinks Ghanaian music cannot be one style, as he believes there is more to music.<\/p>\n<p>Having served as the chairman of GHAMRO in 2015, he further indicated on the show that effective laws are required to make the organisation better.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kojo Antwi, the seeming ineffectiveness of GHAMRO is due to a lack of education on the part of musicians concerning the processes and dealings in the organisation.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"ai5TChJMF1M\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Exclusive with the Music Man, Kojo Antwi on Joy Prime\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ai5TChJMF1M?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWe all need education including the musician because music to us is not a product. This copyright issue started in France, and they had to educate the people to accept it. When I was the chairman, we pursued it. Give GHAMRO the license to do whatever they do\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When asked if GHAMRO would ever be better, he said, \u201cIt needs a bit of law. We need law to govern what we do so that the leaders will sign so it can rule.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As to where he gets his inspiration from, the legendary musician said that he is inspired by music lovers and anyone he gets the privilege to talk to.<\/p>\n<p>Expressing his gratitude to fans and music lovers, he said, \u201cI thank everyone for supporting me and Ghanaian music. I love what they\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201c<strong><em>Nfa Me Nko Ho<\/em><\/strong>\u201d hitmaker is set to dazzle fans with thrilling performances at his <strong><em>Love Songs Unlimited Concert <\/em><\/strong>on Saturday, December 24, 2022.
