Robert Sanchez, currently a goalkeeper for Brighton, has emerged as Chelsea’s top target to replace the unpopular Mendy this summer. Both Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have expressed interest in signing the Spanish goalkeeper in recent weeks.

Edouard Mendy, a goalkeeper for Chelsea, is having a terrible 2022–23 season. He made a big mistake in Senegal’s loss to the Netherlands, and his miscue received a lot of media attention.

Despite being the starting goalkeeper at the beginning of the season, his struggles with fitness and form ultimately cost him the post to Spanish counterpart Kepa, who has been phenomenal in the net and appears to have been reborn. However, just before the World Cup break, the former Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper sustained an injury, and Potter was forced to recall Mendy.

The Blues could try to avoid a headache and are prepared to listen to bids for the Senegalese goalkeeper Mendy, who has been underwhelming of late and whose contract position is uncertain after the 30-year-old goalie rejected down an extension earlier this year.

Since the Senegalese goalkeeper has been underperforming, the Blues have been looking for a successor and have settled on Sanchez, the current starter for Brighton.

Robert, who came up through the Seagulls’ youth system and spent time on loan to the lesser leagues to hone his skills, has been the team’s starting goalkeeper since Ryan was traded away.
