Acrra, Dec. 21, GNA \u2013 The New Patriotic Party (NPP) says it is ready to engage the new leadership of\u00a0the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on issues to help voters make informed decisions in the\u00a02024 general elections.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While congratulating the new leaders that were elected at the NDC\u2019s Delegates Congress in Accra\u00a0last Sunday, the NPP said discussions ahead of the next general elections must be based on facts,\u00a0achievements, and records.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Addressing a press conference in Accra on Wednesday, Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, General\u00a0Secretary, NPP, said the country\u2019s political discourse must be devoid of malice, untruth and\u00a0propaganda.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are ready to engage them on politics of issues, and not propaganda and deceit. We invite them\u00a0to debate us on the records of good governance to enable the good people of Ghana to make\u00a0informed decisions in 2024,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia is now the Chairman of the NDC whiles Mr Fifi Fiavi Kwetey clinched the\u00a0General Secretary position.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Delegates also settled on Mr Joseph Yammin as the National Organiser.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The NPP expressed concerns about some comments made by Mr Asiedu Nketia in his victory speech,\u00a0in which the latter suggested that the new leadership of the NDC were willing to sacrifice their lives\u00a0to secure victory for the Party in 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr Kodua Frimpong condemned the comments, describing it as \u201cnation-wrecking, unpatriotic, and\u00a0disgraceful\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He appealed to the National Peace Council, civil society organisations, the media, and members of\u00a0the diplomatic corps to demand an unqualified apology from the NDC and impress upon the Party to\u00a0refrain from comments that had the potential to destabilise the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe condemn such unpatriotic and disgraceful conduct, which portends a great danger to our\u00a0democracy and security of the State,\u201d Mr Kodua Frimpong, said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The NPP acknowledged the appreciation of the Cedi against the Dollar, and the continuous drop in\u00a0fuel prices \u2013 a development, the Party said, reflected the Government\u2019s efforts in addressing the\u00a0current economic hardship.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Party appealed to traders and service providers to reduce their prices to enable the citizenry\u00a0realise the impact of the appreciation of the Cedi and other economic gains.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appeal to the Ghanaian populace to be patient and have confidence in the NPP Government,\u00a0especially when the interventions put in place are gradually yielding results. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe may not be out of the woods yet, but we are definitely on track to restoring our country to the\u00a0path of sustained growth and prosperity,\u201d Mr Kodua Frimpong said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
