Several Ghanaians have called on the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) to reduce transportation fares to meet the current reduction in fuel prices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some passengers claim that the increment in fares during the fuel price hikes is affecting businesses therefore the need for a reduction in prices as fuel prices have gone down.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the part of the people lamenting, the refusal of the GPRTU to do something about the prices of transportation fares is an act of exploitation towards passengers and that the government must step in.<\/span><\/p>\n

Others have also called on the Transport Minister, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, to sit with the GPRTU to persuade them to reduce the transport fares, adding that if he does not succeed, they will hit the streets to demonstrate.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of such activists, Kojo Bruce, said, \u2018\u2019Now we will see that Ghana\u2019s problem is not solely on its leaders. GPRTU is acting like they are not seeing fuel prices go down. Traders are acting like they are not seeing the dollar rate go down. It\u2019s profit time for them\u2019\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Getting<\/span><\/p>\n

In response to the new development, the recent percentage drop in fuel prices, according to GPRTU Public Relations Officer, Abass Moro, does not yet warrant a drop in transportation costs because the cost of car parts continues to rise.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nevertheless, the transport union has added that should fuel prices increase again, transportation costs will also go up.<\/span><\/p>\n
