Pastor Jamal Bryant of Atlanta\u2019s New Birth Missionary Baptist Church said he wants to grow weed during a recent appearance on The Cool Soror Podcast with Rashan Ali.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew Birth is the largest land-owning Black church in America,\u201d Bryant said. \u201cMy position to my deacons is, \u2018Why aren\u2019t we not raising cannabis?\u201d<\/p>\n

He added he was looking for male congregants that \u201csmell like weed.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked what he meant by this, Bryant explained that he wants to introduce concepts of sustainable farming and preserving the \u201cecosystem\u201d by teaching men how to handle business.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll be able to bring in Black males. They\u2019re able to do it legally. I\u2019m teaching them farming. I\u2019m helping them to enhance the ecosystem,\u201d Bryant explained. \u201cSo if the guy, Black boy, in Bankhead said, \u2018They growing weed at the church? Where do I join?\u2019 I don\u2019t need no pamphlet for him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Culturally, marijuana is increasingly accepted today, and even Christians have shifted their perspective on weed in recent years.<\/p>\n
