{"id":1265655,"date":"2022-12-15T17:48:06","date_gmt":"2022-12-15T17:48:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/15\/blakk-rasta-returns-awards-he-won\/"},"modified":"2022-12-15T17:48:06","modified_gmt":"2022-12-15T17:48:06","slug":"blakk-rasta-returns-awards-he-won","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/15\/blakk-rasta-returns-awards-he-won\/","title":{"rendered":"Blakk Rasta returns awards he won"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Blakk-Rasta-and-awards.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>Musician Blakk Rasta is returning some awards he has won over the years, to the awarding organisations.<\/p>\n<p>The Reggae artiste, in a post on Instagram, said that the awards he is returning are ones won through fan voting.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u2018vote to win\u2019 awards are all \u201cbought\u201d, thus he would prefer to be given awards solely on merit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have said time and again that I do not want to be part of any award scheme that has to do with voting to win. For me, it\u2019s a way of buying votes. Now, if you have an award scheme, you nominate some people and then you ask the fans of these people that you have nominated to vote so that their favourite artiste can win.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen you go ahead and tell them that the more you vote, the more you place your artiste on a higher pedestal of winning and if the artiste doesn\u2019t win, the biggest excuse they normally give, \u2018your people didn\u2019t vote\u2019,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Blakk Rasta explained that although he did not have any problem receiving the awards in the past, his conscience will not allow him do so now.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/CmH12JtpDvL\/?utm_source=ig_embed&#038;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>He added that he will not participate in a vote to win awards schemes anymore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can be the best, but as long as your people do not vote, you will be the worst. So, I decided that I will not be part of this anymore. It\u2019s done, it\u2019s dusted. In the past, we were part of it. We enjoyed it. But when consciousness hit us, we decided that it was all over, and we will not do it again,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>Blakk Rasta added that he, however, does not fault his colleagues who are still patronising these awards schemes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany people haven\u2019t come to that consciousness yet\u2026everybody has their time.
