Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Ado Doguwa, has defended his recent controversial comment where he threatened people to vote for APC in 2023.<\/p>\n
Doguwa was heard in the video, telling his followers he will deal with them if they don\u2019t vote for APC in the 2023 election. He said, \u201cTo God who made me, on election day, you must vote for APC or we deal with you.\u201d<\/p>\n
READ ALSO: <\/strong>\u2018It\u2019s Either You Vote APC Or You\u2019re Dealt With\u2019 \u2013 Lawmaker Threatens Constituents<\/p>\n Making a clarification during an interview on Channels Television, Doguwa said his intention was to motivate supporters, not intimidate them.<\/p>\n He further insisted that they were mere \u201cpolitical semantics\u201d and \u201crhetoric,\u201d as \u201csloganeering\u201d cannot be stopped in Kano politics.<\/p>\n Doguwa said, \u201cThat is not a threat. I would never threaten our electorate. What you don\u2019t know about Kano State (is that) Kano State is one very special political space. We have our special semantics in politics.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have the shenanigans we use during electioneering campaigns. Kano State is an aggressive state in terms of politics of ideology. In Kano State, we have our own way or approaches when it comes to campaigns. You must employ and use what will ginger your people.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have inherited this from time immemorial. Asking people to vote for APC or we deal with them simply means \u2013 like what you can call shenanigans, political brouhaha which we make simply to \u2018ginger\u2019 our supporters, to let them feel that we are on the ground and we will get it right.<\/p>\n \u201cI never meant to intimidate, I never meant to threaten any of my voters. I\u2019m a reasonable person. I have been in election processes for the past 32 years and I\u2019ve never used threats or intimidation to win my elections.<\/p>\n \u201cBut you cannot take away political shenanigans, brouhaha, and sloganeering in Nigeria\u2019s politics. Nigerians should not take this as a threat. It\u2019s part of our political shenanigans and brouhaha.
