(Photo by Maddie Meyer &#8211; FIFA\/FIFA via Getty Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Elisha Owusu has told Joy Prime\u2019s Star Connect that he was left astonished\u00a0when he received his first call to play for the Black Stars.<\/p>\n<p>The K.A.A\u00a0Genk midfielder was handed a maiden call-up to the Black Stars by Otto Addo ahead of Ghana\u2019s 2022 World Cup playoff double-header against Nigeria in March.<\/p>\n<p>According to him,\u00a0his invitation to represent the country came as a surprise to him.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was a little bit surprised because it was a really important game. I was in the squad before and to be called for those two games I was like \u2018wow so big,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was happy and so proud. My family was very proud.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Owusu made his debut for the Black Stars during the second half of the return leg against Nigeria in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>Quizzed on his anxiety to be introduced at such a time, the midfielder said he was well-motivated for the pressure ahead.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a player, that is the type of game you want to play,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think every player wants to feel this kind of pressure, this kind of difficulty game, a game that can decide a lot of things for your career.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was excited and motivated to be there. If you were part of the squad, you\u2019re a part of the squad that qualified [Ghana] for the World Cup which is amazing.
