A leading member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Amoako Baah has chastised the government over the debt exchange plans which was announced by the Finance Minister last week.<\/strong><\/p>\n According to him the debt exchange progammme amounts to forcing the throats of bond holders and investors.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis whole thing is not a joke, it\u2019s a serious matter. Many people are going to lose their money. Some retirees may not get money to live on\u201d, he lamented<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThe government has projected 2037 to make payment on all interest that has never happened before and the amount of debt we have you can\u2019t pay.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cThis is \u2018Patapaa\u2019 the government is using; there is no room to maneuver so that is it. Hey but you will not be in office till 2037, no room for people to talk.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIf this is a right country where parliament is doing its job, they will say there is no way this will not work\u201d, he said.<\/span><\/p>\n He added that \u201cthey won\u2019t even allow them to pass the budget, they will tell them to go and re-write the budget, but see they have approved it\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n He says what the Government has announced to do with regards to its debt restructuring measures is a sad situation which has never happened in the history of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n Dr Amoako Baah further urged the people not to trust anything President Akufo-Addo says, especially after his assurance of no \u201chaircut\u201d turned out not to be true.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWhat has happened is more than a haircut.
