The Chairman of Parliament\u2019s Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, says public confidence in Ghana\u2019s economy will be heightened if the Finance Minister vacates his post.<\/p>\n
According to him, the presence of Ken Ofori-Atta at the helm of the country\u2019s treasury is not helping the Akufo-Addo regime.<\/p>\n
Speaking on The Probe <\/strong>on Sunday, he told host, Emefa Apawu that, the earlier calls by the Majority MPs for Mr Ofori-Atta to leave the scene was based on the belief that his exit will boost public confidence in the economy.<\/p>\n \u201cI think people have confidence, but if the reshuffle had come, I think the confidnece would have been increased\u201d, he noted.<\/p>\n He said the calls by the Majority for the minister to be removed were not tied to any misappropriation on his part, but rather the conviction that his exit will inspire hope in the economy.<\/p>\n These comments come in the wake of numerous calls from Ghanaians for the Finance Minister to be removed.<\/p>\n According to his critics, he is responsible for the country\u2019s ailing economy, hence the need for him to be axed.<\/p>\n Ghans\u2019s economy has been described as one in tatters by many analysts and experts.<\/p>\n But despite these widespread assertions, President Akufo-Addo, believes that the Finance Minister is not to blame.<\/p>\n Despite having admitted that the country is in an \u2018economic crisis\u2019, he still insists that the Finance Minister has performed \u201cexcellently.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, is currently leading talks for Ghana to receive assistance from the International Monetary Fund to salvage the country\u2019s ailing economy.<\/p>\n A staff level agreement between the IMF and Ghana is expected to be reached by the end of the year.<\/p>\n DISCLAIMER: <\/strong>The Views, Comments, Opinions, Contributions and Statements made by Readers and Contributors on this platform do not necessarily represent the views or policy of Multimedia Group Limited.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Chairman of Parliament\u2019s Constitutional, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee, Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, says public confidence in Ghana\u2019s economy will be heightened if the Finance Minister vacates his post.
