Nigerian Afrobeats star D\u2019banj has been released from the custody of Nigeria\u2019s anti-corruption agency, ICPC, the musician\u2019s lawyer has said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ICPC released D\u2019banj\u2026 after the agency could not find anything incriminating on him,\u201d said a\u00a0statement\u00a0signed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, D\u2019banj\u2019s lawyer.<\/p>\n

D\u2019banj was arrested earlier this week on allegations of fraud after millions of dollars meant to help unemployed youths start businesses was reported missing.<\/p>\n

The artist \u2013 whose real name is Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo \u2013 has claimed to be the brand ambassador for the scheme, turned himself in.<\/p>\n

The N-Power initiative was launched in 2016 by President Muhammadu Buhari.<\/p>\n

But many beneficiaries have complained for months that they were not receiving their grants.<\/p>\n

Nigeria\u2019s anti-corruption agencies said in a statement on Wednesday that \u201cbillions of naira\u201d had been diverted.<\/p>\n

D\u2019banj\u2019s lawyer said it was an \u201cembarrassment to the entire country that such a huge allegation [was made] against a public figure without any evidence\u201d.<\/p>\n

The anti-corruption agency is yet to respond to the BBC\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n
