{"id":1263546,"date":"2022-12-09T17:00:30","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T17:00:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/09\/why-this-former-mp-thinks-ofosu-ampofo-is-still-the-best-bet\/"},"modified":"2022-12-09T17:00:30","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T17:00:30","slug":"why-this-former-mp-thinks-ofosu-ampofo-is-still-the-best-bet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/12\/09\/why-this-former-mp-thinks-ofosu-ampofo-is-still-the-best-bet\/","title":{"rendered":"Why this former MP thinks Ofosu-Ampofo is still the best bet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"464\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/president-mahama-mourns-the-late-agnes-awotwe-pratt-of-ndc-effutu-constituency_51373707523_o-696x464.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Ofosu Ampofo, Asiedu Nketia\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Former Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) needs to consider a strategic person to be voted as chairman in its upcoming election.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, that is what will put the party ahead and enhance its chances for victory in the 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the party requires a strategist and believes the incumbent chairman, <strong>Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo<\/strong> is the best bet for the position.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Mr Ampofo is facing a fierce contest in the election scheduled for December 17, 2022, at the Accra Sports Stadium as the party\u2019s General Secretary, <strong>Asiedu Nketia<\/strong> is seeking to snatch the seat.<\/p>\n<p>The former Local Government Minister says he has experienced hands to return the NDC to power in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr Nketia says Mr Ampofo is not courageous enough to lead the party as his courage was tested during the 2019 Ayawason Wuogon by-election.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the comments on Asempa FM\u2019s <strong>Ekosii Sen<\/strong>, Mr Asare said it will be a weakness for anybody to make such comments as each individual have their own weaknesses.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/sddefault-5.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2025955\"  \/><figcaption>Former Member of Parliament for Adentan Constituency, Kojo Adu-Asare<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>He said it was important for the opponent to focus on effective strategies for the party instead of attacking the personality of an opponent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are not going for a war and do not need a warlord. He has done a lot of things in the background for the party.
