Anaya,\u00a0from Belfast, Northern Ireland, was left hospitalised following the eye alteration and is facing permanent blindness after a suspected reaction to the eyeball ink.<\/p>\n
The mum, who also has a tongue split and facial tattoos, now says she wishes she could have done things differently.<\/p>\n
She got her right eyeball tattooed blue in July 2020 and decided to get her left eye dyed purple in December 2020.<\/p>\n
After months without complications, Anaya was shocked to wake up in August 2021 with \u201cswollen\u201d\u00a0eyelids as though her \u201cface had been inflated with air\u201d.<\/p>\n
As the swelling continued to get worse despite taking antibiotics,\u00a0Anaya checked herself into the hospital\u2019s A&E ward.<\/p>\n

Anaya said: \u201cI was just going to get one [eye tattoo] at first because I thought that if I go blind, at least I\u2019ve got the other eye. I should have stuck with that.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy daughter told me that I didn\u2019t want to\u00a0do that [the tattoo] asking, \u2018what if you go blind?\u2019 She wasn\u2019t on board with it at all.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cMy [top] eyelid started to swell, and my bottom eyelid started to swell.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cIt kept getting worse and worse. I looked like I\u2019d done ten rounds with Mike Tyson.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cI took the option to go [to hospital] myself. They gave me surgery and took samples of my eye.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cThey wouldn\u2019t have been able to do it while I was awake, I would have been an absolute nightmare, so they put me to sleep.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cI just wanted to be at home watching [TV] to be honest. I can\u2019t even put it into words. It wasn\u2019t nice at all whatsoever.<\/strong><\/p>\n\u201cIt was traumatising to go through.
