Sarkodie<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n African music heavyweight, Sarkodie, has disclosed that one of the reasons he is not complacent is because of the fast-rising talents on the African music scene.<\/p>\n He made the closure at British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) Radio 1Xtra\u2019s Afrobeats Concerto in collaboration with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.<\/p>\n The event was organised to\u00a0mark 20 years of Radio 1Xtra\u2019s dedication to showcasing Black music and culture, and was hosted by\u00a0Eddie Kadi, Remi Burgz and DJ Edu.<\/p>\n Kadi engaged Ghanaian rapper and businessman Sarkodie on his impressions about the next generation of \u201cyoung talented African artistes coming out of the continent, particularly Ghana, your homeland.\u201d<\/p>\n The SarkCess Chief Executive Officer (CEO) answered: \u201cIt\u2019s beautiful, I love it.<\/p>\n \u201cIt puts me on my toes,\u201d adding \u201cand at the same time I have hope that what we built is going to be protected and it\u2019s going to be there for a minute. So I am super proud to see all these superstars, I know that even when I retire, Afrobeats is going to be alive. So big shouts to (all), especially the superstars coming out from my hometown GH [alias] Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n The 37-year-old father of two, for his set, performed his \u2018Lucky\u2019, \u2018Rollies and Cigars\u2019 and \u2018Labadi\u2019 hits.<\/p>\n Before the \u2018Rollies and Cigars\u2019 performance with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, the two-time BET award winner had declared:\u00a0\u201cI love Afrobeats. Afrobeats is the biggest genre out there right now.\u201d<\/p>\n Legendary British DJ Tim Westwood has called him a pioneer of the Afrobeats fever sweeping across the world.<\/p>\n At the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Awards (VGMA), he was honoured as the \u2018Artiste of the Decade\u2019.<\/p>\n That same year, he became the pioneer winner of the Black Entertainment Television\u2019s (BET) brand new Best International Flow award.<\/p>\n Born Michael Owusu Addo, Sarkodie\u2019s latest project is a 10-track album called \u2018Jamz\u2019. It features some of the hotshots on the Afrobeats scene: Black Sherif, Joeboy, Oxlade, King Promise, BNXN and Lojay.<\/p>\n Sarkodie has been an active professional rapper for almost 20 years.
