(Photo by Sarah Stier &#8211; FIFA\/FIFA)<\/p>\n<p>Image credit: Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>France had a goal ruled out by VAR for offside in the final minute of stoppage-time as Tunisia held on to register a shock victory, but failed to qualify for the last 16 of the World Cup.<\/p>\n<p>Substitute Antoine Griezmann volleyed in a dramatic equaliser at the Education City Stadium but the VAR decision meant Tunisia captain Wahbi Khazi\u2019s brilliant first-half goal proved to be the winner.<\/p>\n<p>However, with Australia recording a 1-0 victory over Denmark in the other match in Group D, Tunisia\u2019s hopes of progressing had been dashed before Griezmann\u2019s goal was ruled out.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>France are through to the last 16 as group winners having already secured qualification with victory over Denmark in the last game.<\/p>\n<p>Despite their failure to progress, Tunisia captain Khazi produced the moment fans had been waiting for \u2013 a goal at this World Cup \u2013 when he drove to the edge of the box and coolly rolled it into the bottom right corner.<\/p>\n<p>There was an outpouring of emotion from a large following of Tunisia fans in the Education City Stadium, while substitutes sprinted onto the pitch in a moment of pure elation.<\/p>\n<p>But their celebrations were shortlived when news of Australia\u2019s lead began to ripple through the stadium, with supporters checking their phones for updates from the other match in Group D.<\/p>\n<p>France, who were much-changed from their win over Denmark having already qualified as group winners, lacked quality in a disappointing performance.<\/p>\n<p>Paris St-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe and Atletico Madrid\u2019s Griezmann were brought on later in the second half to try and find a way back into the game.<\/p>\n<p>They had an impact despite loud jeers and whistling from Tunisia fans keen to put them off and Griezmann almost provided the goal they had seeked.<\/p>\n<p>Didier Deschamps\u2019 side are set to face the runner-up of Group C \u2013 currently Argentina \u2013 in the last 16 on Sunday, 4 December.<\/p>\n<p>Tunisia\u2019s wait to reach the knockout stages of the World Cup for the first time continues as they exit the competition.<\/p>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"uE9M4j--ABo\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"NSOROMMA PLUS: Week 2 - Precious Mbir performed  Kakyire Nua by George Darko - Adom TV (27-11-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/uE9M4j--ABo?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wahbi Khazri of Tunisia celebrates after scoring their team&#8217;s first goal during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Group D match between Tunisia and France at Education City Stadium on November 30, 2022 in Al Rayyan, Qatar.
