Men Ofori &#8211; Atta when presenting the 2023 budget at Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mr. Speaker, as a first step toward expenditure rationalisation, Government has\u00a0approved the following directives which takes effect from January, 2023:<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf All MDAs, MMDAs and SOEs are directed to reduce fuel allocations to Political\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Appointees and heads of MDAs, MMDAs and SOEs by 50%. This directive applies\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>to all methods of fuel allocation  coupons, electronic cards, chit system,\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>and fuel depots. Accordingly, 50% of the previous years (2022) budget allocation\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>for fuel shall be earmarked for official business pertaining to MDAs, MMDAs and\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>SOEs;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf A ban on the use of V8s\/V6s or its equivalent except for cross country travel. All\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>government vehicles would be registered with GV green number plates from\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>January 2023;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Limited budgetary allocation for the purchase of vehicles. For the avoidance of\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>doubt, purchase of new vehicles shall be restricted to locally assembled vehicles;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Only essential official foreign travel across government  SOEs shall be\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>allowed. No official foreign travel shall be allowed for board members.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Accordingly, all government institutions should submit a travel plan for the year\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2023 by mid-December of all expected travels to the Chief of Staff;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf As far as possible, meetings and workshops should be done within the official\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>environment or government facilities;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Government sponsored external training and Staff Development activities at the\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Office of the President, Ministries and SOEs must be put on hold for the 2023\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>financial year;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf Reduction of expenditure on appointments  salary freezes together with\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>suspension of certain allowances like housing, utilities and clothing, etc.;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf A freeze on new tax waivers for foreign companies and review of tax exemptions\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>for free zone, mining, oil and gas companies;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf A hiring freeze for civil and public servants<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf No new government agencies shall be established in 2023;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf There shall be no hampers for 2022;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf There shall be no printing of diaries, notepads, calendars and other promotional\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>merchandise by MDAs, MMDAs and SOEs for 2024;<\/p>\n<p>\u25cf All non-critical project must be suspended for 2023 Financial year&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>What do you say about this?<\/p>\n<p>Content created and supplied by: realglobal (via  Opera<br \/>\nNews )<\/p>\n<\/article>\n<p class=\"copyright hide\">\n<span class=\"content\">    ,  .   ,     .
