{"id":1257131,"date":"2022-11-24T11:53:40","date_gmt":"2022-11-24T11:53:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/11\/24\/ghanaians-to-pay-more-for-goods-services-as-vat-goes-up-2-5-in-2023\/"},"modified":"2022-11-24T11:53:40","modified_gmt":"2022-11-24T11:53:40","slug":"ghanaians-to-pay-more-for-goods-services-as-vat-goes-up-2-5-in-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/11\/24\/ghanaians-to-pay-more-for-goods-services-as-vat-goes-up-2-5-in-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghanaians to pay more for goods, services as VAT goes up 2.5% in 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Ghanaians will from 2023 pay more for goods and services, as government has reviewed upwards the Value Added Tax (VAT) by 2.5 percent.<\/p>\n<p>This was announced by the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta on Thursday when he delivered the 2023 budget statement in Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>The Finance Minister said this review was part of a seven-point agenda to boost the economy.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Ofori-Atta further indicated that the increase is expected to yield GH\u00a22.70 billion, which will be used to augment funding for road infrastructure development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Speaker, the demand for roads has become the cry of many communities in the country. Unfortunately, with the current economic difficulties and the absence of a dedicated source of funding for road construction, it is difficult to meet these demands. In that regard, we are proposing the implementation of new revenue measures.
