Leadership of Zongo communities in the Ashanti Region say they have set in motion a number of interventions aimed at changing the narrative about the zongo youth in the bid to enhance their opportunities in life.<\/p>\n

The long-term objective, according to leadership, is to strategically position its members and their activities to increase their chances of getting Ghana\u2019s President from their ranks in future.<\/p>\n

For a start, a website to promote the achievements of the Zongo youth that address challenges inhibiting their development has been created.<\/p>\n

A member of the Annual Quranic Recitation Committee, Ali Suraj, said the initiative seeks to bring scholars in Zongo communities together on a common platform to harness talents and promote education.<\/p>\n

Zongo communities are routinely tagged by the deviant attitudes of some of the youth. This, over the years, has retarded progress in most zongo communities.<\/p>\n

Leadership intends to change the narrative through engagement and advocacy through education.<\/p>\n

Ali Suraj said the website will promote achievements of Zongo communities and bring scholars together to harness talents for development.<\/p>\n

He hopes the seed they have sown will produce a presidential material from the zongo in future.<\/p>\n

Chief of Zongo communities in Ashanti, Alhaji Sultan Farouk Omar Saeed said the level of development in Zongo communities is not appreciable.<\/p>\n

According to him, they have not properly projected themselves to attract investors and the world at large.<\/p>\n

Alhaji Saltan said the website ( http:\/\/www.quranrecitationforghana.com) first of its kind, will project zongo and address pertinent issues retarding their development.<\/p>\n

Alhaji Saltan wants politicians to desist from using zongo youth to perpetuate crimes and rather harness their talents for the development of the country.<\/p>\n

The yearly Quranic Recitation comes off on 30th December this year. A platform to pray for Allah\u2019s blessings for Ghana.<\/p>\n
