{"id":1255024,"date":"2022-11-21T13:32:33","date_gmt":"2022-11-21T13:32:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/11\/21\/nobody-has-the-right-to-be-a-minister-ofori-atta-must-go-acep-director\/"},"modified":"2022-11-21T13:32:33","modified_gmt":"2022-11-21T13:32:33","slug":"nobody-has-the-right-to-be-a-minister-ofori-atta-must-go-acep-director","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/11\/21\/nobody-has-the-right-to-be-a-minister-ofori-atta-must-go-acep-director\/","title":{"rendered":"Nobody has the right to be a Minister; Ofori-Atta must go \u2013 ACEP Director"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"492\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/image-218-696x492.png\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Nana Ofori-Atta\"\/><\/div>\n<p>The Executive Director for Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP) has added his voice to calls for the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta to resign.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on JoyNews\u2019 The Probe, Mr Benjamin Boakye stated that being a minister is not a constitutional right; therefore, if people call for his resignation, he should go.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you have 85% of the people\u2019s representative saying that they have lost confidence in you, they do not want you, I do not think that anybody has the right to be a minister \u2013 there is no constitutional right to be a minister for which anybody can defend,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>This comes after the Finance Minister appeared before the 8-member Adhoc Committee of Parliament hearing a motion of censure against him by the Minority to defend himself.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr Boakye, there is no need for Mr Ofori-Atta to defend himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is an unnecessary addition to what we need to do at this point in terms of what we need to do to recover,\u201d he said<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is the constitutional process of people voting and the people\u2019s will that say that he has to go at this point.
