\nMark Oliver Kevor elected new NDC Eastern Regional Chairman <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
A former\u00a0<\/span>Eastern\u00a0<\/span>Regional\u00a0<\/span>Secretary of the\u00a0<\/span>National\u00a0<\/span>Democratic\u00a0<\/span>Congress (NDC),<\/span>Mark Oliver Kevor, has been\u00a0<\/span>elected as the new Regional\u00a0<\/span>Chairman of the party.<\/span><\/h2>\nMr Kevor polled 353 votes to\u00a0<\/span>defeat four other contestants in\u00a0<\/span>the chairmanship race including\u00a0<\/span>the incumbent, John Owusu\u00a0<\/span>Amankwah, aka JOWAK, who\u00a0<\/span>obtained 59 votes, with his closest\u00a0<\/span>contender, Bismark Tawiah\u00a0<\/span>Boateng, a former Regional\u00a0<\/span>Chairman, who had 206 votes in a\u00a0<\/span>keenly contested election held at\u00a0<\/span>the Koforidua Technical\u00a0<\/span>University (KTU) last Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\nThe other contenders for the\u00a0<\/span>regional chairman position are\u00a0<\/span>William Kwame Atamudzi, and\u00a0<\/span>Basil Ahiable, who polled 166 and<\/span>143 votes respectively.<\/span><\/p>\nBefore the votes were cast,\u00a0<\/span>there was a hold up, which lasted\u00a0<\/span>for over three hours over the\u00a0<\/span>venue for the event.<\/span><\/p>\nIt was, however, resolved with\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>intervention of\u00a0<\/span>some of the\u00a0<\/span>national\u00a0<\/span>officers of the\u00a0<\/span>party led by the\u00a0<\/span>National\u00a0<\/span>Chairman,\u00a0<\/span>Samuel Ofosu\u00a0<\/span>Ampofo.<\/span><\/p>\nPositions<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\nFor the\u00a0<\/span>Vice-<\/span>Chairmanship,\u00a0<\/span>Ransford\u00a0<\/span>Owusu Boakye\u00a0<\/span>garnered 314<\/span>votes to beat\u00a0<\/span>five others\u00a0<\/span>namely David\u00a0<\/span>Kwame Tettey,\u00a0<\/span>312; Stella Adu\u00a0<\/span>Obeng, 163;\u00a0<\/span>Alhaji Ahmed\u00a0<\/span>Ibrahim, 102;\u00a0<\/span>Richard\u00a0<\/span>Norgbodzi, 41.<\/span><\/p>\nBy the\u00a0<\/span>party’s constitution, Mr\u00a0<\/span>Boakye becomes the first\u00a0<\/span>Vice-Chairman with Mr\u00a0<\/span>Tettey becoming the\u00a0<\/span>Second Vice-Chairman.<\/span><\/p>\nFour persons\u00a0<\/span>contested the Secretary position,\u00a0<\/span>which was won by Baba Jamal\u00a0<\/span>Kenneth with 457 votes to beat\u00a0<\/span>Cudjoe Adukpo, the incumbent,\u00a0<\/span>who obtained 338 votes; George\u00a0<\/span>Mensah Akpalu, 111 votes and\u00a0<\/span>Nenebi Tettey Akomey, 37 votes.<\/span><\/p>\nThe regional organiser and\u00a0<\/span>treasurer positions were won by\u00a0<\/span>Hackman Kabore, who polled 629\u00a0<\/span>votes and Dr Alhaji Ahmed\u00a0<\/span>Abdulai, popularly known as\u00a0<\/span>Sampson Kwakwa, the\u00a0<\/span>incumbent, also secured 557<\/span>votes, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\nThe incumbent Regional\u00a0<\/span>Communication Officer, William\u00a0<\/span>Darlas Ampomah, also lost his\u00a0<\/span>position to Kojo Danquah, who\u00a0<\/span>obtained 554 votes to defeat the\u00a0<\/span>incumbent, who also secured 371\u00a0<\/span>votes.<\/span><\/p>\nThe Zongo Caucus\u00a0<\/span>Coordinator position was won by\u00a0<\/span>Alhaji Issah Mohammed Saani\u00a0<\/span>with 482 votes.<\/span><\/p>\nSwearing in<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\nThe National Communication\u00a0<\/span>Officer of the NDC, Sammy\u00a0<\/span>Gyamfi, swore the newly elected\u00a0<\/span>regional executives into office.<\/span><\/p>\nLater in his victory speech,\u00a0<\/span>Mr Kevor called on the rank and\u00a0<\/span>file of the party to come together\u00a0<\/span>and work for victory in the 2024<\/span>general election.<\/span><\/p>\nEarlier, the National\u00a0<\/span>Chairman of the party, Mr Ofosu\u00a0<\/span>Ampofo, called for a united front\u00a0<\/span>to enable the party to win the<\/span>2024 general election.<\/span><\/p>\nWriter’s email:\u00a0<\/span>[email\u00a0protected]<\/span>.com.gh\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
