The Minister of National\u00a0<\/span>Security, Albert Kan-Dapaah, has\u00a0<\/span>underscored the need for actors,\u00a0<\/span>including political parties and non-state\u00a0<\/span>actors, to build a country that encourages\u00a0<\/span>inclusivity at all levels.<\/span><\/h2>\nHe said aside from bad governance,\u00a0<\/span>marginalisation could be a major leverage for\u00a0<\/span>terrorist groups to advance their cause. <\/span><\/p>\n\u201cIt should be at the back of our minds that\u00a0<\/span>marginalisation and lack of inclusiveness can\u00a0<\/span>cause so many problems for our country and\u00a0<\/span>even within,\u201d he said at the Ministry of\u00a0<\/span>Information press briefing in Accra Sunday (November 20, 2022).<\/span><\/p>\nThe minister said he was encouraged by the\u00a0<\/span>efforts being made by both sides of\u00a0<\/span>Parliament to discuss issues of\u00a0<\/span>marginalisation.<\/span><\/p>\n\u201cNormally, when people complain about\u00a0<\/span>marginalisation, do not let it be seen as an\u00a0<\/span>unnecessary demand; it must be seen as\u00a0<\/span>worth investigating,\u201d he said. <\/span><\/p>\nEfforts <\/strong><\/p>\nMr Kan-Dapaah explained that his outfit\u00a0<\/span>was ensuring that the country\u2019s borders had\u00a0<\/span>enough security officers to respond to any\u00a0<\/span>emergency crises. <\/span><\/p>\nHe added that in the fight against\u00a0<\/span>terrorism, the most important requirement\u00a0<\/span>was not only the ability of security personnel\u00a0<\/span>to fight but also implementing strategies that\u00a0<\/span>made it difficult for terrorist groups to operate. <\/span><\/p>\nThe minister announced that as part of\u00a0<\/span>efforts to di<\/span>scuss major security threats in the West African sub region and proffer solution to them, a two-day high level meeting would take place in Accra from November 21 to 22, 2022.<\/p>\n![](\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/kan_dapaah1.jpg\")

The Federal Republic of Nigeria has been admitted to the “Accra Initiative” made up of\u00a0seven\u00a0countries who have joined forces to prevent terrorists from taking refuge in member states in the West African sub region.<\/h2>\n

The “Accra Initiative” started in September 2017 by the coastal and sahelien West African states as a preventive and coordinated effort\u00a0to deal with terrorist activities.<\/p>\n
It was out of the desire of some heads of states of West African states to strengthen security through the exchange of operational information and intelligence.<\/p>\n
The collapse of Libya triggered the southward movement of jihadhists towards the sahelien West African states and therefore called for the need to come together and exchange intelligence.<\/p>\n
The “Accra Initiative” is headquartered in Accra.<\/p>\n
The member countries are Ghana, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Niger and Togo.<\/p>\n
Nigeria\u00a0has currently been admitted at the level of an observer state, hoping to be fully integrated as a full member soon.<\/p>\n
