{"id":1244398,"date":"2022-11-05T08:21:39","date_gmt":"2022-11-05T08:21:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/11\/05\/in-honor-of-anlo-29-year-old-barnabas-ahialey-has-started-what-he-calls-the-ancestors-walk\/"},"modified":"2022-11-05T08:21:39","modified_gmt":"2022-11-05T08:21:39","slug":"in-honor-of-anlo-29-year-old-barnabas-ahialey-has-started-what-he-calls-the-ancestors-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/11\/05\/in-honor-of-anlo-29-year-old-barnabas-ahialey-has-started-what-he-calls-the-ancestors-walk\/","title":{"rendered":"In honor of Anlo, 29-year-old Barnabas Ahialey has started what he calls the &#8220;Ancestors Walk.&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<article>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/2132c002021e4933a670cfe830275905\"\/>In honor of Anlo, 29-year-old Barnabas Ahialey, also known as &#8220;CBwoy Majik,&#8221; has started what he calls the &#8220;Ancestors Walk.&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The 50-kilometer journey from Dzodze to Anloga, which should have taken about 12 hours, was completed by Master Ahialey in 8 hours as a mark of respect for his ancestors.<\/p>\n<p>In an exclusive with\u00a0the <strong>Journalist<\/strong>, the sculptor, fashion designer and musician said the meaning of the festival \u2013Hogbetsotso \u2013is the historic journey their forefathers took from Sudan through Mali to Ille Ife, Benin before finally settling in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>The Dzodze Adagbledu indigene paid a courtesy call on the Anlo Traditional Council upon his arrival and delivered the message he brought<\/p>\n<p>The entire Anloga township was in a frenzy when he arrived as the young and old, male and female all followed him to the chief\u2019s palace.<\/p>\n<p><strong style=\"color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/78627f30cfd142afad381ea1ec8f3287\"\/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m on a mission which I named the ancestors walk. It\u2019s actually a walk that I\u2019m doing to honour our forefathers \u2013who actually walked all the way from Sudan to Mali to Ille Ife, Nigeria back to Dahomey, the place that we are calling Benin today. But they were not okay there so they had to move to Notse, inside Togo. Then we were told we were under the rule of King Agorkorli and due to one or two things, they had to move from Notse again and basically that\u2019s the essence of the Hogbe festival <strong style=\"color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87);\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/31e9705527974cdb81bd6845a3796e2c\"\/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHogbetsotso means \u2018moving out of the wall\u2019 so I decided to use this day to honour those forefathers of ours who actually walked all the way from Hogbe to where we are now,\u201d he narrated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ahialey, who strongly believes he is a reincarnation told OnuaOnline the message his ancestors told him to deliver to the traditional authority which they also received in good faith.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe in reincarnation and personally I believe I\u2019m not just a normal human being. I\u2019m someone that reincarnated into this form so I\u2019m doing it to honour that same person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI brought them (the chiefs and elders) a message that I want us to go back to out roots, \u2013a day that we\u2019ll all go back to celebrate at Notse and they told me they will take it and work around it,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom Dzodze to Anlo is 50 km according to Google map and I\u2019m supposed to use 12 hrs 10 mins but fortunately I used exactly 8 hours.
