Christina Applegate is \u201cnever going to accept\u201d her Multiple Sclerosis (MS) diagnosis.<\/p>\n
The 50-year-old actress had experienced tingling and numbness for several years before she was diagnosed with the autoimmune condition in the summer of 2021, and while she admitted it was \u201cgood\u201d that production on the final season of \u2018Dead To Me\u2019 shut down for five months so she could receive treatment and process the news, she\u2019s still angry about her health issues.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cThere was the sense of, \u2018Well, let\u2019s get her some medicine so she can get better.\u2019 And there is no better. But it was good for me. I needed to process my loss of my life, my loss of that part of me. So I needed that time.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlthough it\u2019s not like I came on the other side of it, like, \u2018Woohoo, I\u2019m totally fine.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cAcceptance? No. I\u2019m never going to accept this. I\u2019m p****.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though it was suggested there would be no need to return to work, the actress was determined to finish off the show.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cI had an obligation\u2026 to our story. The powers that be were like, \u2018Let\u2019s just stop. We don\u2019t need to finish it. Let\u2019s put a few episodes together.\u2019 I said, \u2018No. We\u2019re going to do it, but we\u2019re going to do it on my terms.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Applegate acknowledged the illness has taken a toll on her body and she\u2019s ready for fans to see changes in her appearances when the third season of \u2018Dead To Me\u2019 airs on Netflix.<\/p>\n
She told the New York Times newspaper: \u201cThis is the first time anyone\u2019s going to see me the way I am. I put on 40 pounds; I can\u2019t walk without a cane. I want people to know that I am very aware of all of that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The \u2018Anchorman\u2019 actress isn\u2019t sure she\u2019ll be able to watch the final season because she finds it too painful but she\u2019s a little worried about what viewers will think of it.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cIf people hate it, if people love it, if all they can concentrate on is, \u2018Ooh, look at the cripple,\u2019 that\u2019s not up to me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m sure that people are going to be, like, \u2018I can\u2019t get past it.\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cFine, don\u2019t get past it, then. But hopefully people can get past it and just enjoy the ride and say goodbye to these two girls.\u201d<\/p>\n
