According to Mr. Appiah-Kubi during the meeting, the business tycoon tried to influence the MPs to rescind their request.<\/p>\n<p>The lawmaker said he offered a \u2018fat\u2019 envelope which contained some undisclosed amount of money for the MPs to back off from their demand.<\/p>\n<p>However, Mr. Appiah-Kubi noted that the MPs turned down the affluent man\u2019s request and asked him to stay off the matter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe man came and wanted us to turn round and reconsider the decision to appeal to the President to relieve Ofori-Atta of his post. We listened to him and he said that when he had come here to talk to us, we had given him the opportunity to address us and therefore he wants to make certain demands from us.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIndeed, he got disappointed when we said we cannot take anything. It is not for the reason of money that we are making this demand. We are motivated by our conscience and therefore it is not about materialism,\u201d he told Evans Mensah.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1374469282&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;auto_play=false&#038;hide_related=false&#038;show_comments=true&#038;show_user=true&#038;show_reposts=false&#038;show_teaser=true&#038;visual=true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat is where we returned the money to him and he took it away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asante Akim North MP, however, did not disclose the identity of this affluent man.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe said that it is not in the interest of the business community to see this confusion in governance and therefore for the sake of the business community and their businesses let us ensure tranquility in the political space,\u201d Mr. Andy Appiah-Kubi explained.<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that the MPs did not find any need to investigate the actions of the businessman since he was only interested in ensuring  tranquility within the leadership of the government.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the businessman has since then not returned to persuade the MPs.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he was sure none of his colleague MPs has gone behind the scenes to accept the businessman\u2019s gift, he said \u201cI am sure that none of my colleagues got back to him on that.
