And just days after being in charge, he\u2019s preparing an overhaul of the social media platform.<\/p>\n<p>The verification is currently free and a way of signalling an account is authentic.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Musk <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/elonmusk\/status\/1586848033550934016\">tweeted<\/a>\u00a0on Sunday that the process of gaining the prestigious \u201cblue tick\u201d will be revamped but did not give any more details about what exactly might change.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0tech website The Verge, which cited internal correspondence, the changes are set to be introduced in the Twitter Blue subscription service that gives subscribers access to various premium features including the option to undo a tweet.<\/p>\n<p>It is currently optional and costs $4.99 per month but Musk plans to quadruple the price to $19.99.<\/p>\n<p>Verified users will have a total 90 days to move to Twitter Blue or they will end up losing their checkmark.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8211; &#8211; New Twitter owner\u00a0Elon Musk is considering charging users $20 (\u00a317.30) a month to have their accounts verified.
