{"id":1239585,"date":"2022-10-31T13:43:49","date_gmt":"2022-10-31T13:43:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/31\/akufo-addos-address-didnt-inspire-hope-haruna-iddrisu\/"},"modified":"2022-10-31T13:43:49","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T13:43:49","slug":"akufo-addos-address-didnt-inspire-hope-haruna-iddrisu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/31\/akufo-addos-address-didnt-inspire-hope-haruna-iddrisu\/","title":{"rendered":"Akufo-Addo&#8217;s address didn&#8217;t inspire hope &#8211; Haruna Iddrisu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"509\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/1652432470_198_image_2021-12-21_125022-696x509.png\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Haruna Iddrisu\"\/><\/div>\n<p>Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, is wondering what President Nana Akufo-Addo hoped to achieve after addressing the nation on the state of the economy on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Tamale South legislator, if the President sought to inspire hope, then he failed woefully.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Iddrisu said the 30-minute speech was more of a campaign message than one that was meant to enkindle optimism amongst the citizenry in these difficult times.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>The outspoken politician made these assertions when he spoke on <strong>Joy FM\u2019s Super Morning Show <\/strong>on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe appeared to me as if he was on a campaign platform of 2016 when he wanted the NDC [National Democratic Congress] and John Mahama government out with those his mouth-watering promises and pledges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI believe that the President failed to radiate hope and failed to provide concrete solutions to the urgent economic crisis facing our country,\u201d he told host, Kojo Yankson.<\/p>\n<p>President Akufo-Addo on Sunday addressed the populace for the first time on the state of the economy.<\/p>\n<p>While admitting that the nation is in crisis, the President outlined some measures that his administration has taken to soften the blow for the citizenry.<\/p>\n<p>Despite commending the President for being candid about the state of the economy, Mr Iddrisu said President Akufo-Addo should have admitted that his administration caused the current mess.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe President failed to take and accept responsibility for leading Ghana into this economic crisis. For me, that is my deepest concern and worry.
