{"id":1239430,"date":"2022-10-31T11:40:31","date_gmt":"2022-10-31T11:40:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/31\/akufo-addo-failed-to-accept-responsibility-for-economic-mess-haruna-iddrisu\/"},"modified":"2022-10-31T11:40:31","modified_gmt":"2022-10-31T11:40:31","slug":"akufo-addo-failed-to-accept-responsibility-for-economic-mess-haruna-iddrisu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/31\/akufo-addo-failed-to-accept-responsibility-for-economic-mess-haruna-iddrisu\/","title":{"rendered":"Akufo-Addo failed to accept responsibility for economic mess &#8211; Haruna Iddrisu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Haruna-Iddrisu.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div id=\"article-text\">\n<p>The Minority Leader in Parliament, Haruna Iddrisu, says President Akufo-Addo failed to take and accept responsibility for the economic mess he has created when he addressed the country on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe appeared as if he\u2019s still on a campaign platform,\u201d he said in an interview on Joy FM\u2019s Super Morning Show, adding that the president was only interested in a manipulation tactic to only blame others or external factors for Ghana\u2019s current economic woes.<\/p>\n<p>The Tamale South legislator argued that Mr Akufo-Addo should have admitted that he has borrowed excessively and misled the country than trying to yet again dodge accountability.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"300\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" allow=\"autoplay\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/1373397820&#038;color=%23ff5500&#038;auto_play=false&#038;hide_related=false&#038;show_comments=true&#038;show_user=true&#038;show_reposts=false&#038;show_teaser=true&#038;visual=true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>According to him, the Ghanaian economy is now a \u201ctrash and I believe that the President failed to radiate hope and he failed to provide concrete solutions to the urgent economic crises facing our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cThe President failed to take and accept responsibility for leading Ghana into this economic crisis. For me, that is my deepest concern and worry. He simply should have said that \u2018I take responsibility for the economic crises I have created\u2019 and emphasise that \u2018I borrowed excessively\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Among other crunch issues hitting the economy, he noted that inflation has eaten away people\u2019s income, purchasing power and real income of salaried workers and civil workers are both gone.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-myjoyonline-com wp-block-embed-myjoyonline-com\"\/>\n<p>He believes the hardship and challenges Ghanaians are suffering are unprecedented and \u201cexcruciating\u201d because there is \u201cunprecedented rise in cost of living, unprecedented rise in the cost of doing business\u201d and others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was more or less a mini 2023 budget statement that the president read without any concrete [solutions]. Cleverly, he goes to say greatest threat of unemployment in peace time then he wades into the world.
