{"id":1238806,"date":"2022-10-30T18:33:23","date_gmt":"2022-10-30T18:33:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/30\/98-of-artistes-do-not-analyse-the-market-before-venturing-into-rex-omar\/"},"modified":"2022-10-30T18:33:23","modified_gmt":"2022-10-30T18:33:23","slug":"98-of-artistes-do-not-analyse-the-market-before-venturing-into-rex-omar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/30\/98-of-artistes-do-not-analyse-the-market-before-venturing-into-rex-omar\/","title":{"rendered":"98% Of Artistes Do Not Analyse The Market Before Venturing Into  &#8211; Rex Omar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\">\n<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"630\" height=\"420\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/059A4295-630x420-1.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"059A4295-630x420-1\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Rex Omar<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The former Board Chairman of the Ghana  Rights Organisation (GHAMRO), Rex Omar has bemoaned the failure of prospective musicians to assess the commercial viability of the music industry before venturing into it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rex Omar said this at the\u00a0<strong> Roundtable<\/strong>\u00a0organised by Joy Entertainment at the Labadi Beach Hotel on Saturday, October 29, 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The thought-leadership forum, themed \u2018 Business and Tourism\u2019, aims at delving deep into, and moving conversations from simply identifying some of the industry\u2019s woes, to sharing ideas and insights that are critical to the growth and progress of the creative industry.<\/p>\n<p>As a keynote speaker, Mr Rex Owusu Marfo spoke on the topic, \u201cImportance of royalties to the life of the musician\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He stated that the majority of artistes do not analyse the business prospects of the music landscape before venturing.<\/p>\n<p>This, according to him is per research he conducted in the music industry.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-embed-handler wp-block-embed-embed-handler wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"oiGNi6g6OXo\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Artistes don\u2019t analyse market before venturing into music \u2013 Rex Omar\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oiGNi6g6OXo?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>\u201cI want to say emphatically here that based on the research I have done, 98 percent of people who get into music in this country, don\u2019t do any business analysis, they just go in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The Highlife musician advised artistes to make it a point to understand that music is business and not only about passion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is only in music that people are driven by passion. So he [artiste] will get the song, look for money anyhow, just rush to studio and record the music and most artistes are satisfied because they have been able to record what I feel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven an iced-water seller, if he wants to go and buy sachet water and sell, he will analyse how much will I buy it? How much will I sell it for?
