Apple will comply with the EU\u2019s USB-C ruling. <\/p>\n
The tech giant will make their devices compliant with the EU\u2019s mandate for all electronic devices to come with USB-C charging points from 2024 after making their products \u2013 such as the iPhone and the iPad \u2013 the outlier with their Lightning ports. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the Wall Street Journal\u2019s WSJ Tech Live event, Greg Joswiak, the company\u2019s vice-president of marketing confirmed they would be obeying the law \u2013 which was voted on earlier this month \u2013 but gave no other detail, such as expected roll out and so on. <\/p>\n
Greg took a bit of a dig at the confederation \u2013 who are advocating for the policy on environmental reasons \u2013 saying they had been in a \u201clittle bit of a disagreement\u201d.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cWe think the approach would have been better environmentally and better for our customers to not have a government be that prescriptive.\u201d<\/p>\n
According to , the executive did not appear to agree with the EU law and highlighted how they disagreed with their attempts roughly ten years ago. <\/p>\n
Apple \u2013 who debuted their charging cable almost a decade ago \u2013 have already begun to implement USB-C technology into their devices, such as the iPad.<\/p>\n
He also said: \u201cWe got to a better place which is power adapters with detachable cables. <\/p>\n
\u201cAll of them being USB-A or USB-C and you choose the cable which is appropriate for your device. <\/p>\n
\u201cThat allowed over a billion people to have that (lightning) connector and to be able to use what they have already and not be disrupted and cause a bunch of e-waste.\u201d<\/p>\n
