The Minister of Communications and Digitalisation, Mrs Ursula Owusu Ekuful, has held bilateral discussions with her Singaporean counterpart, Josephine Teo, on cybersecurity cooperation in Critical Information Infrastructure protection.<\/h2>\n
The discussions touched on the regulation of cybersecurity service providers, capacity building and professional exchanges between officials of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore and the Cyber Security Authority in Ghana.<\/p>\n
The meeting was held on October 20, 2022 on the sidelines of the 7th Singapore International Cyber Week (SICW) organised by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore.<\/p>\n
The Minister was accompanied by the acting Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, Dr Albert Antwi-Boasiako.<\/p>\n
A release issued and copied by the Graphic Business said: \u201cThey agreed to deepen collaboration for cybersecurity skills development and experience, sharing on the protection of critical information infrastructures and regulation of cybersecurity services, among other things.\u201d<\/p>\n
The release said Mrs Teo congratulated Ghana on its election to the International Telecommunications Union\u2019s (ITU) Council at the just ended ITU Plenipotentiary Conference in Bucharest, Romania and expressed appreciation for Ghana\u2019s support for the United Nations \u2014 Singapore Cybersecurity Fellowship which Ghana has been participating in.<\/p>\n
Mrs Owusu-Ekuful invited Mrs Teo and the Commissioner of Cybersecurity and Chief Executive, Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, Mr David Koh, to participate in Ghana\u2019s National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.<\/p>\n
More meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n The release said the Communications Minister held discussions with representatives of INTERPOL\u2019s Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) which is based in Singapore.<\/p>\n The IGCI, the release said, is INTERPOL\u2019s technology arm responsible for technology innovation in policing, as well as leading global cybercrime response.<\/p>\n They discussed improving collaboration and support for Ghana\u2019s criminal justice sector through capacity building and assistance, with investigations into cybercrimes and digital forensics capabilities.<\/p>\n Mrs Owusu-Ekuful, the release said, participated in a ministerial roundtable on the theme: \u201cCyber Resilience in the New Normal\u201d and stressed that governments should work with industry to protect and enhance the resilience of cyberspace.<\/p>\n She indicated that combating cybercrime and malicious activities in cyberspace requires a multi-stakeholder approach, with the roles and responsibilities of government agencies and other collaborating partners clearly defined.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
