David Foster has insisted he has no regrets about becoming a dad again in his 70s.<\/p>\n
The music mogul was 71 when his wife Katharine McPhee gave birth to their son Rennie in 2021 and he\u2019s adamant parenting later in life is very \u201cdifferent\u201d to when he was raising his now grown-up children as he\u2019s working less and is determined to spend as much time as possible with his little boy.<\/p>\n
Speaking to People magazine, Foster explained: \u201cI haven\u2019t regretted a single day of it. I\u2019ve loved every single day. It\u2019s the standard thing of like, \u2018Oh, well you were so young when you had your children and you were working day and night, you never saw them\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd there is some truth to that, sadly, for my (older) kids. I was just working a lot. Even though I\u2019m working a lot now, I\u2019ll cancel anything just to hang with him. It\u2019s just different.\u201d<\/p>\n
Foster is also dad to five daughters from previous relationships \u2014 Allison, 52, Amy, 49, Sara, 41, Erin, 40, and Jordan, 36 \u2014 while Rennie is 38-year-old McPhee\u2019s first child.<\/p>\n
The couple married in 2019 and McPhee told the publication she had \u201choped\u201d to become a mother but acknowledged there were \u201cno guarantees\u201d.<\/p>\n
Foster went on to add that little Rennie is already showing some musical promise and is very keen on playing his electronic drum pad.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cWe think (he\u2019ll be musical), but we don\u2019t know \u2026 We don\u2019t know if the drumming thing is here to stay \u2014 I\u2019d rather he have a tennis racket in his hand than a drumstick, to tell you the truth. But anyway, if he ends up being a drummer that would be great too.\u201d<\/p>\n
