It is not one person holding a position or not. If you don\u2019t believe in going to the IMF, how can you negotiate for us?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The economist claimed in the interview that the IMF negotiations are going \u201cbadly\u201d because Mr Ofori-Atta is faltering with it.<\/p>\n<p>He believes by December, 2022, \u201cour currency might have melted down beyond reverse\u201d and it is a reason the Finance Minister must resign as soon as possible for someone else to take over.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"467\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/5-12.jpg\" alt=\"\u201cIf you don\u2019t believe in going to IMF, how can you negotiate for us?\u201d - Kwame Pianim\" class=\"wp-image-10032157795 lazy\"  data- title=\"\u201cIf you don\u2019t believe in going to IMF, how can you negotiate for us?\u201d - Kwame Pianim\"\/><figcaption>Kwame Pianim<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThose of you who are young, it means there would price controls on key elements\u2026 this is not what we want,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cKen has done well, there are 32 million of us\u201d so President Akufo-Addo must urgently appoint a new person who has the capability to turn things around than wait till the country concludes talks with the Fund.<\/p>\n<p>In his view, appointing a new Finance Minister after the presentation of the 2023 budget may not help matter because the new person to take over \u201cmay also have his own views.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo let\u2019s be serious and tackle the problem with the sense of urgency that it requires.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-wp-embed is-provider-myjoyonline-com wp-block-embed-myjoyonline-com\"\/>\n<p>Calls for the sacking and resignation of Ken Ofori-Atta have heightened over the past few days.
