\u201cBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever\u201d made its long-awaited world premiere on Wednesday night in Hollywood, with director Ryan Coogler and the film\u2019s star-studded cast paying tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.<\/p>\n
The Marvel sequel takes place following the death of Boseman\u2019s King T\u2019Challa, with the people of Wakanda \u2013 especially Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Princess Shuri (Letitia Wright), War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong\u2019o), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and M\u2019Baku (Winston Duke) \u2013 grieving their loss and searching for a way for their kingdom to endure, reports \u201cVariety\u201d.<\/p>\n
As T\u2019Challa\u2019s death plays a major role in the story of \u201cWakanda Forever\u201d, Boseman\u2019s absence during the evening\u2019s premiere cast a shadow over the celebration. <\/p>\n
Watch video:<\/strong><\/p>\n Amid great speculation that Shuri will assume T\u2019Challa\u2019s mantle of the Black Panther in \u201cWakanda Forever\u201d, Wright shared her feelings about creating a sequel without Boseman on the carpet.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m bracing,\u201d Wright told \u201cVariety\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve seen some member\u2019s of Chad\u2019s team. When we lock eyes, we know how this feels. We have to take a step away. I see my aunt locking eyes with me, she\u2019s very proud. I have to take a step away. It\u2019s emotional. We\u2019re trying to hold it together.\u201d<\/p>\n Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige shared his own thoughts on Boseman, expressing gratitude that they were able to work together, even if it was for all too brief a time.<\/p>\n \u201cI got to have him in my life for the short time that I did,\u201d Feige shared.<\/p>\n \u201cMore importantly, he did it at such a young age, such a body of work, that it will last forever. Generation after generation after generation will get to feel his presence.\u201d<\/p>\n Feige was also greeted by Coogler during his interview, offering some glowing praise for the film-maker on his big night.<\/p>\n \u201cHe\u2019s one of the best people I\u2019ve ever met, one of the best film-makers,\u201d Feige said. \u201cMaybe the best person I\u2019ve ever met.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThis is hyperbole! This is hyperbole right here,\u201d Coogler laughed, before offering some kind words in return to Feige. \u201cIncredible producer!\u201d<\/p>\n Along with returning cast members, new entrants to the world of Wakanda include Michaela Coel as Aneka, a captain and combat instructor in the Dora Milaje, and Dominique Thorne, who makes her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Riri Williams aka Ironheart, as well as representatives for the kingdom of Talokan, led by Tenoch Huerta Mejia\u2019s Namor, one of Marvel\u2019s oldest characters.<\/p>\n In the comics, Namor has been both a friend and a foe; it seems Coogler and co-writer Joe Robert Cole have found a way to demonstrate both sides with this antagonist.<\/p>\n Like Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, much of the plot for \u201cWakanda Forever\u201d has been shrouded in secrecy.<\/p>\n One major news item was revealed early on Wednesday though, when Disney confirmed that Rihanna would sing an original song written for the film, titled \u201cLift Me Up\u201d.
