{"id":1236727,"date":"2022-10-27T21:33:35","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T21:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/27\/nana-addo-must-take-control-of-economic-management-team\/"},"modified":"2022-10-27T21:33:35","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T21:33:35","slug":"nana-addo-must-take-control-of-economic-management-team","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/27\/nana-addo-must-take-control-of-economic-management-team\/","title":{"rendered":"Nana Addo must take control of Economic Management Team"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Former President John Mahama has said it will not be enough for the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, to be replaced.<\/p>\n<p>The former President wants President Akufo-Addo to \u201creconstitute and take control of the economic management team himself,\u201d which is normally headed by the Vice President.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Mahama in his address on the state of the economy said the Finance Minister\u2019s position was currently untenable.<\/p>\n<p>Some Majority MPs had <strong>called for the dismissal of Mr. Ofori-Atta<\/strong>, and the Minister of State at the Finance Ministry, Charles Adu Boahen.<\/p>\n<p>The President resisted calls from his own party for Mr. Ofori-Atta to be replaced and asked that he be given time to complete the International Monetary Fund deal and 2023 budget.<\/p>\n<p>But Mr. Mahama believes there is no basis for the President\u2019s appeal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBudget preparations and IMF negotiations are the results of teamwork. They are not the work of one individual.
