{"id":1236389,"date":"2022-10-27T15:38:06","date_gmt":"2022-10-27T15:38:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/27\/i-never-received-gh%c2%a25000-bribe-from-jauben-mce\/"},"modified":"2022-10-27T15:38:06","modified_gmt":"2022-10-27T15:38:06","slug":"i-never-received-gh%c2%a25000-bribe-from-jauben-mce","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/27\/i-never-received-gh%c2%a25000-bribe-from-jauben-mce\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;I never received GH\u00a25000 bribe from Jauben MCE&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The second assembly member to mount the witness box, in the trial of the rejected Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben, has told the Kumasi High Court he never received a bribe from Mr. Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka to influence his vote.<\/p>\n<p>The assembly member for Bomfa Ahenbronum electoral area, Prince Opong Kyekyeku during cross-examination denied taking a GH\u00a25000 bribe from the rejected nominee.<\/p>\n<p>Kyekyeku however said he was given GH\u00a21000 by the accused person\u2019s assistant to be sent to a mentally challenged person at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The accused, Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka is facing 26 corruption charges for allegedly giving out bribes to assembly members in the area to facilitate his approval as MCE for Juaben.<\/p>\n<p>Three more persons are expected to testify in the trial.<\/p>\n<p>The judge, who presided over the case, Justice Priscilla Odikro, adjourned the case to 27th and 28th February, and 1st and 2nd March 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second assembly member to mount the witness box, in the trial of the rejected Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Juaben, has told the Kumasi High Court he never received a bribe from Mr. Alexander Kwabena Sarfo-Kantanka to influence his vote.
