In addition, a series of leaked text messages highlighted the strain in their relationship.<\/p>\n<p>Elon is believed to want to restore \u201cfree speech\u201d to the site, including hinting he would restore the former US president Donald Trump\u2019s posting rights \u2013 which he dubbed the \u201cdigital town square\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In spring, he said: \u201cFree speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.
