Selena Gomez feels \u201cnervous\u201d about sharing her \u201cdifficulties\u201d in her new documentary.<\/p>\n
The 30-year-old star is the focus of an upcoming documentary called \u201cMy Mind and Me\u201d on Apple TV+, and Gomez has confessed to having mixed feelings about the project.<\/p>\n
The chart-topping singer, who has spoken openly about her mental health struggles, said: \u201cAs nervous as I am to put out something this personal, in my heart I know now is the time.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope that by sharing my experiences and difficulties, it will help people feel inspired to share their own stories. And to have hope that things can and will get better.\u201d<\/p>\n
Watch video:<\/strong><\/p>\n The documentary looks at the pop star\u2019s mental health journey, and Gomez admits that the project \u201ctook on a life of its own\u201d.<\/p>\n She told \u201cVanity Fair\u201d magazine: \u201cIt was never this thought-out plan thinking we were going to capture these very personal parts of my life. It just evolved from there.\u201d<\/p>\n Gomez teamed up with director Alek Keshishian to make the documentary.<\/p>\n And she relished the experience of working with Keshishian, who is best known for his 1991 Madonna documentary.<\/p>\n The \u201cLose You to Love Me\u201d hitmaker said: \u201cI had seen \u2018Truth or Dare\u2019 and thought it was one of the most brilliant music documentaries that\u2019s ever been shot.<\/p>\n \u201cI watched it seven times. It\u2019s an actual work of art. This isn\u2019t just, \u2018Here I am on tour and I\u2019m going through things\u2019. <\/p>\n \u201cIt was a glimpse into someone\u2019s life, and it had respect and love and empathy, and nothing was sugar-coated. I knew if I were ever to make a doc, I wanted Alek to direct it.\u201d<\/p>\n Gomez also felt comfortable working with the respected director.<\/p>\n She said: \u201cHe is very kind and nurturing, and I have complete trust in him. Most of the time, I forgot he was even around.
