{"id":1235320,"date":"2022-10-26T16:28:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T16:28:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/26\/ndc-mps-wear-black-in-push-for-ofori-attas-exit\/"},"modified":"2022-10-26T16:28:00","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T16:28:00","slug":"ndc-mps-wear-black-in-push-for-ofori-attas-exit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2022\/10\/26\/ndc-mps-wear-black-in-push-for-ofori-attas-exit\/","title":{"rendered":"NDC MPs wear black in push for Ofori-Atta\u2019s exit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"368\" class=\"entry-thumb\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Minority-in-black-agaisnt-Ofori-Atta-801x424_1680x889-696x368.jpg\"   alt=\"\" title=\"Minority-in-black-agaisnt-Ofori-Atta-801x424_1680x889\"\/><\/div>\n<p>The Minority in Parliament has employed a basket of adjectives to fuel their demand for the dismissal of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.<\/p>\n<p>At a short press briefing on Tuesday, the Minority spokesperson on finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, spared no superlatives in painting the embattled Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, as \u2018super incompetent.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>In expressing their grievances, the MPs wore black outfits to communicate their displeasure with the current state of the economy.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/22191989129,1002554\/MGL\/mgl_ado_atunwa_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Here are the NDC\u2019s adjectives-filled justifications for Mr Ofori-Atta\u2019s removal, which was read at the presser in Parliament:<\/p>\n<p>Despicable conflict of Interest ensures that he directly benefits from Ghana\u2019s economic woes as his companies receive commissions and other unethical contractual advantages, particularly from Ghana\u2019s debt overhang.<\/p>\n<p>Unconstitutional withdrawals from the Consolidated Fund in blatant contravention of Article 178 of the 1992 Constitution, supposedly for the construction of the President\u2019s Cathedral:<\/p>\n<p>Illegal payment of oil revenues into offshore accounts, in flagrant violation of Article 176 of the 1992 Constitution.<\/p>\n<p>Deliberate and dishonest misreporting of economic data to Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Fiscal recklessness led to the crash of the Ghana Cedi which is currently the worst-performing currency in the world.<\/p>\n<p>Alarming incompetence and frightening ineptitude, resulting in the collapse of the Ghanaian economy and an excruciating cost of living crisis.<\/p>\n<p>Gross mismanagement of the Ghanaian economy which has occasioned untold and unprecedented hardship.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Deputy Minority Whip, Ahmed Ibrahim, says his side has already filed a motion of censure against the Finance Minister, Mr Ofori-Atta.<\/p>\n<p>The Banda Ahenkro MP said both Majority and Minority leaders have already commenced discussion about the vote of censure against Mr Ofori-Atta.<\/p>\n<p>The sentiments of the Minority came to bear after some New Patriotic Party parliamentarians earlier petitioned President Akufo-Addo to sack Mr Ofori-Atta.<\/p>\n<p>The MPs, numbering about 80, held a press conference on Tuesday to impress on the President to relieve his cousin of the responsibility of managing the national purse.<\/p>\n<p>The MPs also threatened that they would withhold their support for government business in Parliament if their demands are not met.<\/p>\n<p>The aggrieved legislators also want the Minister of State in charge of Finance at the Ministry of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen, to be subjected to a similar fate of dismissal.<\/p>\n<p>            <!--  [embed]https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=videoseries[\/embed]<!--\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>--><\/p>\n<div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"ZSKYAvBjjZ4\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"One-on-One with Deborah Addae Abrefi | CEO - Debby Bless Ghana Foundation | Mahyease (26-10-22)\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZSKYAvBjjZ4?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Minority in Parliament has employed a basket of adjectives to fuel their demand for the dismissal of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.
