Hon. Alban Bagbin deferred his ruling on whether the Dome-Kwabenya seat should be declared vacant or not following her failure to honour a meeting by the Privileges Committee on her continuous absence from Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>Adwoa Safo is one of three members of Parliament who were called before the Privileges Committee for being absent from parliamentary duties without any reason, beyond the permissible period.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the two other MPs, Kennedy Agyapong, MP for Assin Central, and Henry Quartey, MP for Ayawaso West, appeared before the committee, the Dome-Kwabenya legislator failed to honour the summons.<\/p>\n<p>She attributed her long absence from Parliament to family issues, saying, among other things, that her son was unwell.<\/p>\n<p>She was recently sacked by the president from her portfolio as Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"youtube-embed\" data-video_id=\"9zRLANwWO1g\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Adwoa Safo: Speaker defers decision on vacancy of Dome-Kwabenya seat\" width=\"696\" height=\"392\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/9zRLANwWO1g?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin will on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, rule on the fate of Dome-Kwabenya Member of Parliament, Sarah Adwoa Safo.
